SUNDAY SCRAPPING
- 27 August 2006
I finally completed this layout of our 2nd Annual Scrapathon at the Rob Roy Hotel on Saturday, 29 July 2006.
It was a serious uphill battle as far as the colour choices were concerned, but I am relatively happy with the end result. The idea for the layout evolved from the interesting variety in shapes (different triangles) of the Rob Roy Hotel's architecture itself (see top left hand circle).
A greater part of this Sunday was spent 'lazing' around, reading my current favourtie mag 'Real Simple' (lots of practical tips) and waiting anxiously to see the final of the first 'Afrikaans IDOLS' on Kyknet. Hope my favourite wins!

1958 OUDTSHOORN WEDDING
As previously mentioned, I have started with a heritage album of hubby's family. During the past weekend I have done these two layouts of my parents in law, Coen and Marie Fourie's wedding. They are celebrating their 48th wedding anniversary, on 13 December this year. Quite an achievement for this day and age. They got married in the Dutch Reformed Church in Oudtshoorn.
I am signing off with a quote by Pam Brown (1928):
"Love is caviar and wedding cake, strawberries
and cream. Love is champagne.
Friedship is new bread, fresh butter, farmhouse
cheese and a pot of tea for two.
Of course, to get through life, it's best to combine the two.
But friendship is easier on the digestion."

'YOUNG LOVE'
- Wednesday, 9 August 2006
Trust all of you ladies had a wonderful WOMEN's DAY and that you celebrated life.
A while ago I scanned a few 'old' happy snappies that I salvaged from my mum-in-law's photo albums which she keeps high up in a linen cupboard and seldom take out to reminisce over the past. I am starting with a heritage album of my parents in law (Coen & Marie Fourie). This was the first layout in the album reflecting mum and dad very much in love in the 1950's.
I leave you all with some 'Words of Beauty' by Helen Exley:
"Beauty ... is something felt,
a glow or a communicated
sense of fineness.
What ails us is that our sense
of beauty is so bruised
and blunted, we miss all
the best."

MIDLANDS MAGIC
- 6 August 2006
Another layout I produced this weekend of our tour through the Midlands during early winter this year.
ALOE APTITUDE
- Sunday, 6 August 2006
After visiting Hobby-X on Saturday I did some serious scrapping - still a good tonic for my soul. Hobby-X did not exceed our expectations this year. There were nothing new in the Scrapping industry. Beading on the other hand was huge. Every second stall were trading with beads, so you guessed right - yours truly frequented most of the beading stalls.
ALOE THRASKII
Another Aloe species that was flowering in our garden this winter. I just love the contrast in textures between the yellow/orange aloe flower itself which seems quite soft and fluffy and the green straight and spiky leaves.
JUST CRUISING
During our scrapping cruise to nowhere on the Rhapsody during March this year I just could not take enough photos of the interesting shapes and contrasts between white and orange colours. So much so that my fellow shipmates got bored and snapped away at me composing my photos!

CAROL MEET 'EDNA'
- 3 August 2006
Carol, a scrapbooker going on quilting. I commissioned Carol, a member of my 'Thursday Night Gang' scrapbooking students to create a 'Scrapping Diva' Quilt (similar to Edna above) for my Blue Room scrapping studio. Yes, Carol I was dead serious!
