Let's Scrap Blog Hop - Sketch 2-18-09, LEAP9

{Host: Cathy Bruinhorst}

Cathy has given us Let's Scrap blog hoppers a great sketch (see below) to work with, I just had to give it a go and it gave the opportunity to create my first Diamond Pop-up Easel card (here's the tutorial). The digi sentiment also came straight to mind.  Had it printed with my Canon Inkjet.  I have downloaded the sentiment a while ago from the net, but can't remember from where. As you can see, the sketch has been adapted quite a bit i.e. the four little squares on the sketch are reflected in the diamond shape with the flower on it (the four squares are just mounted on top of each other). All the patterned paper are from FabScraps.

Using the Upikit 3” Scalloped Square Punch (5x5cm) you can create the following folded flower embellishment for your scrapbooking layouts or cards:

These punches are available online from {Doing Life} – just click on the links above.

Using a smaller square punch will just give you a smaller flower.
This folding technique creates wonderful dimension without using any foam adhesive, etc. Here's how you do it:

  1. Punch a scalloped square and mark the centre (just eyeball it) with a pencil. Cut from the center of each side toward the centre, stopping +0.5cm of the centre mark.
  2. Fold in each cut as shown, folding from the centre up to the first scallop. Repeat for all cuts.
  3. Once folded, turn over. The folded pieces add the dimension. Snip off the middle scallop from each petal with scissors.
  4. Repeat steps to create second flower. Fan and adhere at centres. Top with brad or button.

Here's Cathy's sketch:

... and here is the digi sentiment, a friend in blog land shared it with her readers.  Right click on it and save to your computer.  It would however be great if you could let me know what you have created with it ...

I would also like to enter this creation into the following challenges:

{Oh yes, I wanted to say that I have noticed there are quite a number of stalkers who are visiting my scrapbooking 'Layouts' section - guys it would be great if you could leave me a kind comment to say that you have been visiting - us bloggers love receiving comments - it really keeps the motivation going.}

Thank you all for taking the time to stop by. Lots of blog hugs.
