Joining 9 Big Squares
STITCHES USED
chain (ch)
standing single crochet (ssc)
slip stitch (sl st)
single crochet (sc)
(put hook in space pull up loop and pull through both loops on hook)
half double crochet (hdc)
(put wool around, put hook in space pull up a loop and pull through all three loops on hook)
half double crochet (hdc)
(put wool around, put hook in space pull up a loop, pull through all 3 loops on hook)
double crochet (dc)
(put wool around, put hook in space pull up a loop, pull through first 2 loops on hook and then pull through last 2 loops on hook)
Fasten off (fo)
A) JOINING OF 3 BIG SQUARES
1. Put 2 squares with wrong sides together.
2. Create a standing single crochet (ssc) and leave it to one side off the hook.
3. Put hook through corner spaces of front and back square.
4. Now put the ssc onto the hook and pull the ssc through the back and front square.
5. Pull the short end and the long end of the wool through the ssc now do 1ch just with the long end of the wool.
6. Do a sc in the top of the very first hidden stitch of the front and back squares together, catching both loops.
7. Continue doing single crochets through the top of the next 51 stitches of the front and back squares.
8. Do the 54th sc in the corner spaces of the front and back square. Fasten off.
9. Put another square with wrong sides together to either one of the previously joined squares and repeat 2 to 8. Fasten off
10. Create another 2 strips of 3 big squares as above. Work away ends.

11. Put two strips of 3 joined squares with wrong sides together.
12. Create a standing single crochet (ssc) and leave it to one side off the hook.
13. Put hook through corner spaces of front and back square.
14. Now put the ssc onto the hook and pull the ssc through the back and front square.
15. Pull the short end and the long end of the wool through the ssc now do 1ch just with the long end of the wool.
16. Do a sc in the top of the very first hidden stitch of the front and back squares together, catching both loops.
17. Continue doing single crochets through the top of the stitches until the next corner space and do a single crochet in the last corner of the first square and another sc in the first corner of the second square.
18. Do a sc in the top of the very first hidden stitch of the front and back squares together, catching both loops.
19. Continue doing single crochets through the top of the stitches until the last corner space and do a single crochet in the last corner of the third set of squares.
20. Fasten off.
21. Put the third strip of 3 joined squares with wrong sides together to either end of the previously joined set of 3 squares.
22. Repeat 11 to 19. Work away ends.
