{DDCC #56 & Sketch Saturday #59}
It feels like earth is rotating downwards instead of around ... as time just seems to fly by unnoticed and its one thing in life we can't stop. Another year has lapsed and some of you can probably recall that around the same time last year (feels like yesterday) I posted a card I made for Alisha's 4th birthday. Well its her 5th birthday on 20 July and here's her card ... lets hope she does not peep over Mom Heidi's shoulder when she is surfing the net.
I used this week's sketch over at Sketch Saturday as a starting point for the card. Loved this sketch which was so easy to work with.
Then this week's Design Team project over at Dutch Dare Card Challenge is to create a card with cutting dies and/or punches. I scratched through my stash and stumbled across a little tin of die cuts which I have had for years (Ellie ... you might remember these ...). The bright butterfly cuts came in handy and added a cheerful touch to the card.
The sentiment translated means 'A Special Day'.
I carried the theme through to the inside as well as to the outside of the envelope.
Its probably been the third Thursday in a row that we are without water. The previous times it was off for nearly 12 hours during the day, only back on at 9pm. Its amazing how one realise during these situations how dependent we are of natural resources and that we should use it responsibly.
Sorry, I have been a bit quite in blog land as I am busy with a 21st creative memory album commission as well as some more jewellery commissions. So please bear with me as I will be visiting you all soon to leave some love.

  1. That is such a lovely, bright card. I am sure Alisha is going to enjoy having it. I remember those cut outs - we used to use them quite a bit. I agree, we are very reliant on some of our natural resources.
    You can be excused from lagging in blogland - I know the feeling when you have so many other things that need to get done. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the end results.

  2. Love your card - it's so bright and cheerful!!!! Looking forward to more creations from you soon!

  3. Gorgeous cheerful bright card! perfect for a little girl. Love the butterflies and buttons. Great touch. Hope your water returns so soon. yes we do rely very much on our resources and take them for granted.

  20. Hi Desire!

    Have just spent a lovely coffee session visiting you!

    Thanks for all the inspiration - so many talents! I am also a beader, which i truly love, but like my scrapping seems to have been shelved for a while!

    I LOVE your nectar bottle for the garden - will definitely look out for them here - I have a number of bird feeders in my garden.

    Thank you for the tip on the Heritage Retreat! My husband's business is RIGHT next door and we live down the road, so I will definitely give it a try now that it comes recommended!!

    Take care - have a super duper day.

  21. Lovely card, and what a cute little girl. Sorry to hear about your lack of water, when I was a child (ok it was years and years ago!) we only had well water, and some hot summers it dried up and we had to take a milk churn to the fire station every day, we were allowed one churn a day!! and that was for everything. washing, drinking, cooking and for the toilet too, so the water you washed in was then used for the toilet, thats when you have to be careful. Fingers crossed for you that next Thursday you dont have the same problem.
    Jose xx
